In the 1990s, after graduating college and being unable to find a job, Donnie Johnson moves back into Chicago’s Robert Taylor Projects with his mother. After witnessing a murder on the Red Line train, Donnie gives a statement to the police. The guys in his neighborhood resents Donnie for snitching, and his mother fears for his life. Donnie finds a well-paying job as a journalist and moves into his own place away from the guys who are after him.

Soon, Donnie’s articles spark mayhem in the same community they were meant to help, and his friends begin to die all around him. With his life on the line and time simmering away, Donnie struggles to protect his mother and himself. The question becomes, how long can Donnie stay alive?
