Charges have officially been dropped against actor Alec Baldwin the American actor after he fatally shot the cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on-set of the film Rust. Now, everyone is asking, Did Alec Baldwin Get Away with Murder?

What Happened

During the shooting of film Rust in Bonanza City, New Mexico, on October 21, 2021, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was shot in the torso area. Although Hutchins received medical attention, she did not make it. Alec Baldwin, who had fired the gun, was shocked and in grief, according to some witnesses. Still, the blame fell on him and the set armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was later convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Although some felt the case was open and shut, there were some disputed facts. While Alec Baldwin denies pulling the trigger and says the gun was defective, the state took the opposite position. Furthermore, sometime before, some of the film’s staff walked off set after complaining about unresolved workplace safety concerns. Because Reed found herself on the losing end of her case and she did not fire the weapon, many would argue that her conviction should have been a prediction of the conviction Baldwin deserved.

However, the charges against Baldwin were dismissed because the judge found the prosecution had improperly withheld evidence. This behavior from certain prosecutors has led to case dismissals in the past.
