On February 9 at the downtown location of Taco Bell located in LA on 7th Street, a security guard slapped a woman and sparked outrage. The woman and security guard had a heated exchange before the video began, according to Alejandro Sanchez, who took the footage.

The woman walks over to a self-serve kiosk and attempts to use the machine. The security guard briskly walks behind her and grabs her arm. The woman responds by jerking away, and the Taco Bell security guard slaps her without hesitation. She asks for someone to call the police. It is unclear if anyone did.

Apparently shocked, the woman walks away, holding her face. The guard follows behind her, and she repeatedly says, “Get away from me. Get away from me.” In response, the guard gets closer and tells her to leave.

The woman walks to the other side of the restaurant and is followed by the guard. As she walks toward the entrance, he shoves her forward. Eventually, the woman leaves.

According to BlackNews.com, Alejandro Sanchez, who recorded the incident, said, “The security guard was telling her to leave, and she didn’t want to because she was ordering food. Then he just went off, and she started going crazy.”

Najee Ali, Director of Project Islamic Hope, said in a statement, “Our coalition of civil rights leaders are demanding accountability from Taco Bell leadership and want a meeting with [CEO Sean] Tresvant to discuss customer safety and improved security measures to ensure that customers aren’t assaulted by Taco Bell security along with the arrest and prosecution of the security guard responsible for the assault.”
