Hopefully, this workweek was exciting for you, even if some days felt longer than others. You might feel like you’re running a marathon right now, but it’s Ok to take a breather. If you’re seeing this, it’s your sign to celebrate yourself, and relax a little. If you need some convincing, here’s why you deserve to relax.
Rest to Come Back Stronger
When you are at the peak of your game, you extend it by maintaining your health and mental wellbeing. Notice that when people or companies peak, it’s at the time when they’re making the most progress but under the most stress.
Considering that, stress management is the key to achieving more success. At the beginning, when you’re fueled by hunger and sleepless nights, you grind harder. It’s just human nature. The difference in those who continue to peak and those who don’t is resilience.
A mindset will know when it’s time to take a breather and do it. Most of the time, that break is a few hours to a couple of days. The weekend used to be guaranteed, but many times, employees complete work-related tasks outside their normal hours. In that climate, you have to intentionally carve out time that is for you. Do with it what you will, but do it for your mental and emotional wellbeing.
Celebrate Mini-Complishments
Have you been nicer to nosey people as you promised yourself you would? Or have you saved your first $100 of a milestone? You do these things, and you cast them off as small, if anything. Yet these are big moves worth celebrating.
To begin with, whenever you keep a promise to yourself it’s worth celebrating. It’s not easy stashing away cash and cutting habits. Doing so shows a growth in your maturity. You’re actively choosing your priorities appropriately. So, write yourself a card or have a cup of tea on the back porch. If not for the acknowledgment, do it for the motivation.
Believe it or not, acknowledging your hard work will inspire more hard work. You feel good about yourself, and you highlight how you made it happen. In the future, you’ll be able to replicate it quickly and efficiently. It’ll be a skill you can lean on anytime.
The Takeaway
Hopefully, your workweek went well and you find time to relax and celebrate yourself. The accomplishments you consider small are no smaller than each individual stone that makes up a pyramid. Those accomplishments are building blocks to an empire. You’re the mason, and there’s always tomorrow. You may have been conceived in a night, but you weren’t made in a night. You’re a fine work in progress.
