X and YouTube were booming with the news of the resignation of firebrand Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene. The unexpected news came Friday, just days after an online feud between her and Donald Trump in which he called her a “traitor.”

What Happened

On Friday, U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene announced that she is resigning from Congress, effective January 05, 2026, FOX News reported. She has served as the representative for Georgia’s 14th Congressional District since 2021. In the video, the 51-year-old Republican said Donald Trump had called her a “traitor,” and she’s been getting threats. She claimed that she has been one of Trump’s biggest supporters but that he turned on her over the Epstein Files. He wanted her out, and she didn’t want to put her constituents or party through such a stressful election.

In the video covering her resignation, Greene further indicated her disapproval of both political parties which she views as consistently failing Americans. Possibly taking shots at others in Congress, she reaffirmed her support for term limits. She likened treating the position like an “assisted living facility” by some. Additionally, she framed her time within Congress of as period of feeling misplaced and ineffective.

While some applauded Greene for taking a stand, others questioned her timing. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said Greene had “carefully” timed her departure “just 1 — 2 days after her pension kicks in.” Conservative shock commentator Laura Loomer also reminded the public of Greene’s shady trading behavior that many interpreted as insider trading. In addition to what the two women had to say about Greene, Trump offered his own perspective.

“She Went Bad”

“Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown, because of PLUMMETING Poll Numbers, and not wanting to face a Primary Challenger with a strong Trump Endorsement (where she would have no chance of winning!), has decided to call it ‘quits,” Trump wrote on his platform Truth Media.

As for why he and Greene had a falling out, Trump wrote, “For some reason, primarily that I refuse to turn her never ending garage a phone calls, Marjorie went bad.” This has been a common claim by Donald Trump, indicating that Greene over-communicated. His argument has been that while he’s been preoccupied with trying to run the country, she’s been calling him more often than she should.

“Nevertheless, I will always appreciate Marjorie, and thank her for her service to our Country!” The last lines must’ve stung for Greene since that service was in honor of him. It also ends because of him. Trump’s posts about her after her announcement remain negative overall.

The Takeaway

After five years of wildly offensive attacks, staunch support of Trump and confrontations with both parties, U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene announced her resignation. It becomes effective January 05, 2026. As noted by many, this is just a day or two after her pension kicks in. The falling out between Trump and Greene seemingly stemmed for her unwavering support of exposing the Epstein Files. Trump thanked her for her service but only after making more allegations against her and intentionally misnaming her. What this means for Congress and Georgia, only time will show.
