According to the Bangkok Post in an article released February 03, an “egg mafia” run by Chinese gangsters was exposed in the European country of Georgia after an NGO helped to free three Chinese women from the criminal organization.
What Happened
When a victim returned to Thailand after paying a criminal organization about Rs 1.8 lakh (just over 2000 USD) for her freedom, she relayed information about the criminal organization to Pavena Hongsakula, who founded the Pavena Foundation for Children and Women. She told Hongsakula that there were still other Thai women being held captive who could not afford to buy their freedom. The women had found themselves in an egg harvesting racket after coming across a job posting on social media. The Pavena foundation helped to free three additional victims, while enforcement freed the rest.
According to NDTV.com, “Most of the women were lured in by a job offer on Facebook promising them a salary between Rs 10 lakh (11,500 USD) and Rs 15 lakh (17,000 USD) if they worked as surrogates for Georgian couples who were unable to have children.” The criminal organization paid for the passports and visas of the women for their venture to the European country Georgia, formerly of the Soviet Union. Once the women arrived, they were housed in one of five properties. It didn’t take long for the women to realize something menacing was happening.

One of the victims said at a press conference she had been pumped with steroids in an effort to stimulate her ovaries, as were others. Once a month, they would have their eggs removed. NDTV.com reports the victim said, “The women would be injected to get treatment, anesthetized and their eggs would be extracted with a machine.” The women got scared after realizing what they were being asked to do was different than what was in the advertisement. They then began trying to contact family and friends to get back home.
The eggs were sold in other countries for in-vitro fertilization (IVF). IVF is used in instances where an individual or couple have difficulty reproducing. The history of IVF stretches back to the late ’70s, and it has been praised as a miracle by those who’ve produced children this way. GoodRX notes, the cost of IVF “includes ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval and fertilization and embryo transfer. It also includes procedures, imaging, bloodwork, and medications, a single cycle can cost $15,000 to $30,000 or more.” Arguably, the most important part of the process is the egg.
OTHER NEWS: ELON MUSK was UNDER INVESTIGATION for War Sabotage by USAID when he shut down the department. Read it here.
This criminal organization would have continued its operations had it not been for the fearless actions of the victim and nongovernmental organization the Pavena Foundation for Children and Women. The rescue of the 100 victims in this case sparked by the NGO shows the necessity of organizations like this and why America should be using USAID to contribute to them. Elon Musk and Trump are pushing to end USAID, and the discovery of this sick egg harvesting racket has only recently come to light. Ending USAID and shutting down NGOs will be catastrophic for the most vulnerable here in America and elsewhere around the world.
On social media, people, primarily women, are concerned that in this modern day something so sick and sinister could be happening. The criminals who did this to these women prayed on them through employment ads on Facebook. This happens at a time when the app, led by billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, has decided to roll back fact-checking efforts. Meta’s failure to identify predatory fake job ads across its platforms puts its users, kids and adults alike, in danger of being taken advantage of or worse. There should be an investigation into Facebook to understand how this happened with their app and how to prevent it in the future.
The Takeaway
100 women were rescued from at least four different properties in the European country of Georgia in an egg harvesting racket. The criminal Chinese organization that did this used Facebook to promote ads offering fake employment and to recruit victims. It wasn’t until the women got to Georgia did they realize that something wasn’t right. One victim brought her freedom and worked with Pavena Hongsakula’s NGO to save the other women. Details about the criminal organization behind this malicious scam are still developing. With Facebook being used as a tool to lure women into such a dangerous situation, the company should be investigated to understand how this happened and how to prevent it in the future.
