Wife and mother Michaela Brashaye Rylaarsdam, 31, who moonlights as an OnlyFans model, has been charged with involuntary murder two years after a requested BDSM-ish session with a 56-year-old client went south. Although he did die in her presence, this mother and wife should not have been charged and must be freed immediately.
What Happened
In March of 2023, the john Michael Dale saw an ad of Michaela on an unnamed website, and somehow reached out to her. They had not met previously, but she responded to him.

Soon, they began trading texts, some of which were odd from Dale. He asked Michaela to glue boots onto his feet. He followed up with a link to Etsy leading to dildos for her to purchase.
As reported by law enforcement in court, Dale wrote, “I was thinking of something like this, six inches long, that you could put down my throat before you glue my mouth shut.” In a barrage of three more texts, he says, “I have been seriously thinking about you gluing my eyes shut at the end.”
At 11:57 am, he wrote, “Can we glue my eyes shut please? So sexy, you being the last beautiful angel I’ll ever see.” Three minutes later, he texted, “So, can we please glue my eyes shut at the end, seriously?” and “So, does that mean you will truly and honestly put a pool of Gorilla Glue in each eye to make it truly permanent for me, my sexy angel?”
Carefully, at 12:13 pm Michaela wrote back, “I will do whatever we put into writing to be signed, doll face.” Between the texts and their meetup, Dale had sent Michaela over $11,000.
Then, on April 17, 2023, Michaela finally met up with Dale at a house near San Diego that he shared with a few roommates. During this time, there were only two other roommates around, a male, whose sister owns the property, and a female. They were not involved with the meetup. Michaela and Dale met privately in his bedroom.
The night began, and Michaela even went live to stream some of it for her OnlyFans users. According to law enforcement, Michaela danced topless, as she filmed in selfie mode. In the background, Dale is allegedly visible. His wrists appear to be bound with black duct tape.
The video also supposedly shows Dale on the floor with a plastic bag over his head. There appears to be plastic wrapped around his neck and his face completely, law enforcement says.
During the filming of the video, Michaela is seen on the floor, legs akimbo, while masturbating with a vibrator. The camera panned between her and Dale, who is still bound on the floor. At some point, he appeared to not be moving. It does not seem Michaela noticed at that time.
However, later, she realized there was a problem with Dale. She ran out of the room to get help from the roommates and came back to give Dale CPR. They also called 911.
Police and paramedics arrived on the scene and took over. They noted Dale was unconscious and shirtless on the floor. His hands were still bound, and his legs were wrapped in plastic wrap, over his red pants.
They collected about seven boxes of plastic wrap. Additionally, they took into evidence three bottles of Gorilla Glue. The red boots Dale had requested Michaela buy were taken as well. Andrew Smith, Dale’s roommate, added more information later.
Smith testified he had been on his way to the kitchen and heard noises. He said he intended to let his sister, the landlord, know about the disturbance. On his way back to his room, he allegedly heard Dale say, “Can we stop? I’ll pay you more money to stop”
Dale was rushed to a hospital. A day later, he was pronounced brain dead. Within a few days, his family took him off life support. The medical examiner has determined his official cause of death is asphyxia. At the preliminary hearing for Michaela, the medical examiner said, “Essentially, there was a lack of oxygen to the brain because of the plastic wrap around the head, leading to fatal injury.”
From the beginning and throughout the investigation, Michaela cooperated with investigators. She went as far as turning over her phone, doing interviews and answering all their questions. She thought she was in the clear until February 2025, when she was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. This late charging is a red flag to some, but the prosecution has released a statement to address that.
“The evidence showed that he hired her to perform bondage acts and fetish acts. There is no indication that he asked her to obstruct his breathing, asked her to put tape over his mouth, asked her to put a plastic bag over his head,” prosecutors said. They made comments about the bag being on Michael Dale’s head for about 8 minutes. They believe the charge is appropriate.
In California, manslaughter is described as “an unlawful, killing, resulting from a willful act, committed without intent to kill, and without conscious disregard of the risk to human life.” This is a broad definition, but the charge can be beat in Michaela’s case on different grounds.
Not Involuntary Manslaughter
Michael Dale, a john with specific requests, asked Michaela to glue his eyes shut, shove a dildo down his throat and to glue his mouth shut, and he knew the risks of his actions. He wrote, “So sexy, you being the last beautiful angel I’ll ever see.” He took on this risk, and he understood what he was getting himself into.

Moreover, Michaela got help for Dale immediately upon realizing something was wrong and performed CPR. She cooperated with the investigation and allowed police to go through her phone. They found no evidence of a coverup or ill intent. They found texts between two willing adults, and Michaela was a bit nervous at the beginning.
In response to Dale’s texts about super gluing his eyes shut, she texted, “I will do whatever we put into writing to be signed, doll face.” In this text, she is clearly hinting, “This might be risky, but if you sign a waiver, we can do whatever you like.” This wasn’t her plan.
Michaela is a wife and a mother who was just living her life until Michael Dale entered it. She wasn’t looking for someone whose eyes she could glue shut. She was trying to earn a living, and Dale was trying to have an experience with her. Her actions have been blown out of proportion, while putting no onus on Dale.
As an example, the judge denied Michaela’s bond request for an incident that was an accident at best. There are people who’ve killed people who got bonds. Michaela isn’t a flight risk, and she has kids.
It seems this bond was given to her to make sure she spends some time in jail because the prosecution and judge know she otherwise will not. This case is a loss through the gate. If it wasn’t, the State would have indicted her. Instead, they chose a preliminary hearing with a judge they knew would find probable cause where there is none.
The Takeaway

Wife and mother Michaela Brashaye Rylaarsdam, 31, who also works as an OnlyFans model, has been charged with the involuntary murder of Michael Dale, a john, who was 56 at the time. Unfortunately, Dale passed away from asphyxia. Michaela has been given a no-bond and will appear in court for her arraignment on September 27. This was a tragic accident that Dale knew the risks of and took on. Michaela must be freed now.
