Marine Corps veteran Brian McGinnis didn’t expect to walk away from the Senate Armed Services subcommittee meeting on military readiness with broken bones. But he did.

What Happened

As General Christopher Mahoney testified, McGinnis began shouting from the audience. Much of what he said was anti-war, but he specifically focused on Israel.

In full uniform, McGinnis stood and said, “Nobody wants to fight for Israel.” The response from Capitol Police was quick and violent. Within seconds, two armed police grappled him and began carrying him to the door. Bystanders gasped but made room, while Senators and others of rank remained still.

As the police half-carried and half-dragged the veteran across the Russell Senate Office Building, they fell onto some chairs. After wrestling him back to his feet, they finally got him to the doorway, but his hand got caught in between two doors. It got worse from there.

Out of the blue, Senator Tim Sheehy (R-MT), attempted to tackle McGinnis by the legs. There is an audible snap as the hand of McGinnis breaks. A man shouts, “A U.S. Senator broke the hand of a Marine.” The woman filming pans the camera around to the floor, where the Senate sits unmoving. Others refuse to turn around. The woman begs someone to help McGinnis and shames them when they do nothing.
