31-year-old U.S. veteran and mother of two Alexia Moore never imagined she’d be facing murder charges in the country she defended. But the State of Georgia knows no limit or reason when it comes to women’s reproductive health. The state demonstrated this by overcharging her with felony murder after she allegedly consumed abortion pills.

What Happened

In late December 2025 in Kingsland, Georgia, Alexia Moore was rushed to the emergency room in severe pain. While there, she delivered a premature baby girl who lived for about an hour before sadly passing away. A security guard reported the incident to police. However, the charges didn’t come until March 4, after police conducted an investigation. They found the medical records indicate Moore was between 22 and 24 weeks pregnant.

According to police warrants, Moore told the hospital staff she had taken misoprostol. Allegedly, she said she’d gotten the abortion drug online, along with oxycodone for the pain. Her friend who drove her to the hospital also allegedly gave a pill bottle to the police. Prosecutors have charged Moore with felony murder under Georgia’s LIFE Act, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a “dangerous drug.” The medical examiner ruled the death of the baby as undetermined, undermining a successful murder conviction.

Currently, Alexia Moore is being held in the Camden County Jail without bond. As she awaits her trial, people are questioning what her arrest does for patient trust in their doctors. She was snitched on by a hospital security guard, and her medical records were subpoenaed into open court. This creates unease in all women patients who value their privacy. Either way, Moore’s team has a solid plan.

Alexia Moore’s Defense

Alexia Moore’s defense team is strategically arguing that what she allegedly did isn’t murder under Georgia’s LIFE Act (“Heartbeat” law). What she did was a “self-managed” abortion. While it is restricted, the law has protections to prevent women from being charged with murder. Her team is positioned to successfully argue she is being overcharged.

The Takeaway

Alexia Moore, a veteran of the United States, is facing trumped up charges related to a birth at a Georgia hospital. The mother of two is being held without bond in the Camden County Jail. Her arrest raises questions about how much patients can trust their doctors and hospitals. Moore’s next court date is Monday, March 23, and her lawyers will argue for a bond. They are also pushing for a speedy trial. On Moore’s court date, the prosecutor will reveal if they will stick with the current charges or downgrade them. At the very least, Alexia Moore deserves a bond. In reality, the murder charges must be thrown out because they’re excessive.
