Five months after being released from federal prison, rapper Pooh Shiesty, Lontrell Williams Jr., 26, is behind bars again. This time, his father is accompanying him. The arrest of Shiesty comes after the January 2025 armed robbery of his boss Gucci Mane, 46, and his associates.

What Happened

On January 10, Gucci Mane met up with Pooh Shiesty in a studio in Dallas, Texas after Shiesty reached out to him. The two were supposed to “discuss the terms of his 1017 recording contract,” according to the federal indictment. Gucci flew in with his head of security named B.P. in court documents and a third music professional referred to as M.M., who was there to handle the details. Gucci and his crew fell into a devious trap.

The feds say Gucci and his crew entered the studio around 3:43 p.m. As soon as they were inside, the meeting flipped to an ambush. Pooh Shiesty asked to talk with Gucci privately in the recording room. He took his dad Lontrell Williams Sr. and Big30 with him. Shiesty then pulled out some release forms and told Gucci to sign them. (Earlier in the day, Pooh’s dad allegedly printed them out at Staples.) Gucci didn’t budge.

When Gucci argued against signing, reports claim Pooh Shiesty pulled out an AK-style pistol, pointed it at Gucci and forced him to sign the papers while being recorded. Gucci was forced to say he was “releasing” Shiesty from the label. Shiesty had what he wanted, but he wasn’t done.

Court documents report that once the papers were signed, Shiesty personally robbed Gucci for his wedding ring, watch, earrings and money. As this was going on, the other five or six “co-conspirators” were handling Gucci’s team in the control room of the studio.

The DOJ says Big30 used his body to block the studio door so nobody could escape. Gucci’s team didn’t bend over, and Shiesty’s team met them with violence. One of Gucci’s associates was pushed back onto a couch, while the other was choked out from behind so hard he almost passed out. The robbers also took from Gucci’s staff.

Police reports note the staff was robbed of Rolexes, a Louis Vuitton bag, wallets and Apple headphones. At one point, the victims told investigators they really believed they were about to be killed before they were finally told to leave the building. It was a victory for Shiesty and his team that would ultimately be tainted by their own trail of evidence.

Pooh Shiesty’s Evidence Trail and Self-Incrimination

The investigation started at the studio. Inside, the feds found fingerprints on red plastic cups and collected surveillance footage of Shiesty’s entire crew arriving and leaving. They even have the victims’ injuries on record, specifically marks on the neck and wrists of the guy who was choked. But the evidence trail the robber clique left behind is screenshot gold for the prosecution.

Pooh Shiesty was still on parole for his last case and was wearing an ankle monitor. After the robbery, he and his team celebrated at a hotel, reports claim. The feds compared his Instagram activity times with his GPS pings. It showed him moving from his hotel to the Staples, then to the studio, and then back to the hotel where the “celebration” posts began. He and the others couldn’t contain their excitement.

Within hours of robbing Gucci Mane, Shiesty’s crew was celebrating online. A suspect named Demarcus Glover allegedly posted a video to his social media posing with a Rolex that prosecutors believe was stolen from one of Gucci’s associates during the “takeover,” as Shiesty’s crew called the robbery.

Terrance Rodgers, another suspect, posted photos of himself wearing jewelry that matched the description of jewelry taken at the studio. Also, the DOJ has surveillance footage of Lontrell Williams Sr., Pooh Shiesty’s dad, at a Staples in Dallas just hours before the robbery. The feds used a multi-state April Fool’s Day operation to take them down.

How Shiesty and His Crew Got Caught

On April Fool’s Day, eight of the nine suspects were arrested simultaneously across two different states, Texas in the city of Dallas and Tennessee in Memphis and Nashville. In Memphis, the FBI raided a home in a suburb called Cordova. Property records show the house is owned by Pooh Shiesty. The feds caught almost all of them in one sweep, including Pooh Shiesty, his father Lontrell Williams Sr. and Big30. The charges came next.

The following day, Thursday, April 2, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas announced the very long indictment. They were all charged with Conspiracy to Commit Kidnapping, Kidnapping, Robbery and Use of a Firearm During a Crime of Violence. These charges carry up to life in a federal penitentiary.

The Takeaway

Pooh Shiesty and his crew had court appearances today and were denied bond. Prosecutors mentioned the mountain of evidence against the men and detailed a plan to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. The feds confirmed today that one man, Terrence Rodgers, is still currently on the run. The investigation continues as Pooh Shiesty and his crew prepare to fight potential life sentences at trial.
