Two teens went on a crime spree through multiple Chicago neighborhoods, leaving several communities on edge. The audacity of their crime wave is unbelievable.

What Happened

At 3:25 am on Friday, April 17, police say two boys, 16 and 17, committed their first burglary of the night. Security cameras show two masked individuals smashing a window of the Double Urban Tavern on West Fullerton Avenue.

They are shown climbing inside and going directly to the ATM. The two struggle to lift the machine for several moments before getting help from a third person. They then fled in a vehicle.

About an hour later, police say their getaway car was seen at a Logan Square business. There, four suspects broke in and stole another ATM. They didn’t stop there, according to reports from abc7chicago.com.

Another hour passed, and the suspects committed another burglary. This time, police say they broke into a Little Village store. In addition to an ATM, they also took a cash register. They weren’t done yet, but the police weren’t either.

Calls came in, and the police were able to track the vehicle using information from the previous burglaries. They caught two boys, ages 16 and 17. Then, investigators got warrants to search properties related to the boys.

At one home during a search, according to abc7chicago.com, police found “damaged, stolen ATMs, as well as money, a cash register and seven guns. Three of the guns were fully-automatic. Burglary tools and vehicle reprogramming devices were also recovered at the home.” Total, police found seven guns.

Police are conducting a wider investigation to apprehend the other members of the burglary crew.
