Yesterday, 3 people were killed in an ambush quadruple shooting outside of a popular West Side barbershop in Chicago. The recklessness of the shooting has the neighborhood on edge, and the details are sickening.
What Happened
On Friday, 4 people were outside of a barbershop in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. As reported by CBSNews.com, about 4:45 pm, a car pulled up on Maypole Avenue and screeched to a stop. Witnesses say at least two gunmen jumped out of the car and started shooting.
As the victims tried to get away, the shooters continued their violent attack. Police arrived, but the damage was done.
A 36-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds was pronounced dead at the scene. One woman who was 32 years old was shot in the head. She was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital. Another man whose age has not been disclosed died at Mount Sinai Hospital. The only surviving victim, 35, was taken to Stroger in critical condition with multiple gunshots. According to reports, the shooting appears to be targeted, since the shooters got out and approached.
Immediately after the shooting, the suspects fled in their vehicle. The suspects left behind a street-full of shell casings. Police have not released information on the types of weapons used, but reports say the shells likely came from high-power handguns with extended clips. No one is in custody, and this is why police need your help.
