A Southside business is in ruins after criminals rammed a vehicle through the store to get to the ATM. The community and local business owners are enraged. Here’s the full story.
What Happened
As reported by CBS News, at 5:30 am today, Monday, May 5, police say criminals crashed two vehicles into the front of Commercial Stop & Shop Food & Liquor on 89th and Commercial Ave. Although the store had burglar bars, they were unable to stop the burglars from ramming their way in.
Once inside, the criminals went for the ATM. Police say they took “contents” from the machine but didn’t specify what the contents were. The brazenness of the robbery coupled with the fact the criminals got away is concerning the neighborhood. These smash-and-grab style robberies are becoming more frequent. How the criminals are getting away after causing such destruction is baffling to the community.

As of this writing, police do not have any suspects in custody for this robbery. Police did set up a perimeter to tape off the crime scene as they investigate. At this time, the community and business owners need your help solving this crime.
