According to FOX News, CPD arrived at 3:40 pm today, Monday, August 9, to a bone-chilling scene at Mark Twain Elementary School. It’s located at 5134 S. Lotus Av. in the neighborhood of Garfield Ridge. It’s unclear where, but police found two unresponsive adults somewhere inside.

Police located two custodians, who had both been shot once in the head. They were a 48-year-old woman. She was taken to Christ Hospital in critical condition. A 63-year-old man was the other person shot, and he was taken to the same hospital. The results were tragic.
Both people were pronounced dead. It is unclear what led to the shooting or who the shooter was. Police noted that a firearm was recovered at the scene. Some representatives have spoken out about the situation.
Trumaine Reeves, executive vice president of SEIU Local 73 told FOX News, “The only facts we know right now are that two families have lost a loved one and our prayers are with their families, and the staff, students, and families at Mark Twain Elementary School.” Some parents also expressed fear.
As parent Felicia Puga told CBS News, “Now I’m questioning if I should even send her, and hopefully there’s a school nearby, but we’re not in the district for it,” she said. “So we’re hoping maybe I can get her into that school, because something is not right here.”
