A social media influencer known for calling Black people the n-word to incite and record them has been arrested for Attempted First-Degree Murder. The charges come after months of harassment of African Americans by the streamer.

What Happened

In what has become a social trend, Dalton “Chud the Builder” Eatherly, 28, produces high-intensity content, where he intentionally harasses Black people. In his encounters, he does it while armed.

With a poor understanding of how self-defense works, Chud, a social terrorist, films himself calling random African Americans the n-word and “chimps,” while threatening to shoot them. This is what he was doing on May 13 when the incident occurred.

On the day mentioned, according to CNN, Chud the Builder was leaving the Montgomery County Courthouse in Clarksville, Tennessee, when he encountered others at about 1:20 pm, including some African Americans. As usual, Chud began calling them the n-word and saying they were “chimping out.” As he live-streamed on the crypto-based platform Pump.fun, his actions escalated.

The streamer went from calling innocent bystanders the n-word to threatening them by reaching for his firearm. Witnesses say he stood in a sideways stance and reached for his weapon. At that point, Chud was struck by someone in an attempt to disarm the dangerous man. But it only got worse.

Chud produced the firearm and let off several rounds. In the process, he shot Joshua Fox, a disabled U.S. Army veteran, multiple times, as reported by the Associated Press. He struck the veteran in the stomach and in the shoulder.

Because of how severe his injuries were, Fox had to be emergency evacuated using LifeFlight to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where he had emergency surgery. Fox is also a father to three children.

Chud shot himself as well in the arm, but the wound seems to be a superficial graze. The disruption caused the courthouse to be temporarily locked down.

Chud was treated by Paramedics on the scene for his self-inflicted gunshot before he was transferred to a Clarksville hospital. Once medically cleared him, police took him directly into custody.

The Aftermath

Police reviewed the courthouse surveillance footage and witnesses’s videos which disproved Chud’s claim of self-defense. He was lying. The footage showed him standing in a sideways stance and drawing his gun before the punch. It shows him recklessly firing the gun, causing a bullet to ricochet off nearby walls where innocent bystanders were standing.

On May 15, 2026, Chud appeared before a judge. Calling out the severity of his felonies and the danger he posed to the public in the crowded courtyard, the judge set his bond at $1.25 million. Prosecutors have made it nearly impossible for him to use funds he’s raised through streaming to bond out.

The Takeaway

Live-stream ragebaiter Dalton “Chud the Builder” Eatherly, 28, has been charged with the attempted murder of veteran Joshua Fox. The incident occurred on May 13, just outside Montgomery County Courthouse in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Chud is scheduled to return to court on May 21, 2026, for a full bond hearing. He’ll also have a preliminary hearing on May 26 of this year. Both hearings take place at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Clarksville, Tennessee and are related to the shooting outside that same courthouse.
