What Happened
As reported by the Daily Herald, on Saturday, July 25, police began a search in the Busse Woods North forest preserve in Schaumburg. What they found was a gruesome scene and the discovery a family had feared the most. They were looking for a man named Anthony Richert, who was 43 years old and from Schaumburg.
Richert had last been seen by a family member on the night of June 25 at 8 pm. This family member claimed Richert had left home without his necessary medications. He needed these medications for several conditions, reports claim. The situation got strange when police located his vehicle unoccupied near the woods.
Reports do not tell when police found the vehicle, but the sighting prompted them to search the nearby Busse Woods. This is when they made the gruesome discovery.
Anthony Richert’s body was found in the woods, but the exact location is not specified. His remains were described as “decomposing,” indicating he was dead for a longer period of time before being located. The cause of death has not been released, but his identity has been confirmed by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
